Z gronostajem czy z łasiczką? Odpowiedź kryje tożsamość modelki i zleceniodawcy obrazu. Przedstawiona na portrecie dama to poetka Cecylia Gallerani. Obraz zamówił Ludovico Sforza, zwany Ludovico il Moro z powodu śniadej karnacji, ale również Ermellino Bianco czyli Biały Gronostaj, ze względu na otrzymany od króla Neapolu Order Gronostaja. Leonardo symbolicznie uwiecznił ich nieoficjalny związek. Wkrótce Lodovico poślubił przeznaczoną mu w dzieciństwie Beatrycze d'Este, a Cecylia cztery miesiące później urodziła ich syna.
Pomijając zawiłości historyczne obraz Leonarda jest również świetnym portretem zwierzęcia! Rzadko malowane domowe zwierzęta to doskonały temat! Mojego modela pewnie rozpoznacie;)

The portrait
With an ermine or a weasel? The answer is hidden in the identity of the model and the man who commissioned the painting. The lady in the portrait is the poet Cecylia Gallerani. The painting was ordered by Ludovico Sforza, called Ludovico il Moro because of a swarthy complexion, but also by Ermellino Bianco or White Ermine, due to the Order of Ermine he received from the King of Naples. Leonardo symbolically immortalized their unofficial relationship. Soon Lodovico married Beatrycze d'Este, promised him as a child, and Cecylia four months later gave birth to their son. Apart from the historical complexities, Leonardo's painting is also a great portrait of an animal! Rarely painted domestic animals are a great topic!
