Wśród zieleni, czerwony akcent. Parasolka z włoskiego parasole stworzona - nie jak francuski parapluie z myślą o deszczu - tylko o słońcu. Nie wyobrażam sobie historii malarstwa bez niej - jest wszechobecna w wypełnionych światłem obrazach przełomu XIX i XX wieku. Również w pracy Józefa Mehoffera odgrywa istotną rolę. Gra świateł, przede wszystkim feria odcieni zieleni i dopełniających czerwieni tworzy wyjątkową atmosferę. Tak jakby malarz próbował uchwycić nie tylko postać żony i zaprojektowany przez siebie ogród, ale wszystkie spędzone tu chwile, tuż przed sprzedażą domu, w którym mieszkali przez dziesięć lat. Przelać magię ogrodu na płótno, by towarzyszyła im w kolejnych przeprowadzkach. Może chroniła jak parasol przed szarością codzienności w kamienicy?
Zakupiony 15 lat później kolejny dom Mehoffera - obecnie oddział Muzeum Narodowego w Krakowie - również posiadał ogród założony przez artystę w latach trzydziestych i odtworzony w roku 2003 na podstawie między innymi pracy Czerwona parasolka. Sam obraz, zakupiony od wnuka artysty przez Muzeum siedem lat później, również jest tu eksponowany. Co ciekawe w tym samym domu w 1869 roku lata urodził się Stanisław Wyspiański. To jedno z naszych ulubionych miejsc w Krakowie. Tam, rok temu przy kawie, zobaczyłam grę zieleni i czerwieni tak doskonale współbrzmiących w obrazie Mehoffera. Wówczas powstał pomysł namalowanej teraz pracy.

Umbrella
A red accent among the greenery. Umbrella from latin word umbra - shadow was created - not like a French paraplaie with rain in mind - but the sun. I can't imagine the history of painting without it - it is ubiquitous in light-filled paintings of the turn of the century. Also in the work of Józef Mehoffer it has an important role. The play of lights, above all the feria of shades of green and complementary red creates a unique atmosphere. As if the painter was trying to capture not only the wife's figure and the garden he designed, but all the moments spent here just before selling the house in which they lived for ten years. Transfer the magic of the garden onto the canvas to accompany them in their subsequent removals. Maybe to protected like an umbrella from the gray of everyday life in a tenement house?
Another house purchased by Mehoffer 15 years later - now a branch of the National Museum in Krakow - also had a garden founded by the artist in the 1930s. In 2003 it was and recreated based on, among others, the work Red Umbrella. The painting itself, purchased from the artist's grandson by the Museum seven years later, is also exhibited here. Interestingly, in the same house in 1869, Stanisław Wyspiański was born. This is one of our favorite places in Krakow. There, a year ago over coffee, I saw a play of green and red so harmoniously in harmony with Mehoffer's painting. Then the idea of the now painted work arose.
